  1. HI, I successfully copied one of my dvds last night, and it came out
perfect the picture quality was amazing, I never thought it would be so good!

I do have a couple of questions though..

1] The movie I copied was anamorphic widescreen(PAL), so what settings for
aspect ratio should I choose in TMPGEng? I choose 16:9, I want to keep the black bars for widescreen, the picture was ok, with black bars, but I may have noticed a very slight vertical stretch?

2] Also, my dvd-rom is firmware locked, does this mean I cannot copy Region 1 dvd's?
Using smartripper trying to rip my region 1 copy of three kings it said
    "Some files are still locked!
Try to unlock with a player! "

Anyone able to help me out on either of these?
    Thanks

  2. sterankin, dvd2avi's info box will tell you the source aspect ratio (either 16:9 or 4:3)..this is wut u enter into tmpgenc

as for ripping region 1, did you play 3 kings w/ winDVD/powerDVD first? you need to do that first....

you'll have to change the region settings for your dvd-rom to rip it. or atleast to unlock the dvd with Windvd/powerdvd.
now moast roms can be changed a few times and then it locks.

if your going to keep backuping dvds from diffrent regions you might want to make the rom region free.
Sears google for region free firmware for your dvd-rom.
This is a bit risky (a friend f**ked his drive up), but if done right there should be no porb.
Well, I am the slime from your video.
Oozin' along on your livin'room floor.
