This has happened only occasionally, and it is kind of mysterious when it happens because I don't know why. I will take what LOOKS like a decent Remux encoded MKV file, using MediaInfo, everything looking okay (level, frame rate, reframes, audio, etc...) but when I mux it using TSMuxer into a regular BDMV / CERT format and burn to Blu-ray and then try to play it on my OPPO player (an older BDP-83 PRE-Cinavia ) every once in a great while the phenomenon will happen where I hear the sound just fine but the picture is blank. BUT... here is the weird part and will HOPEFULLY suggest to someone here as to why this happens, if I FF the Blu-ray disc that I burned THEN mysteriously I can see the picture FF'd just fine at 2x, etc...

So, something is causing the picture not to show at normal speed. Now, I'm no expert, but the only 'unusual' thing that I noticed in the MediaInfo file is that the subtitle (it is a French film) is in the Zlib format - It shows PGS (Zlib) I know that is some kind of compressed format and I THINK in the past that when I've seen that the subs might not show, but the picture is fine. Other than that, I couldn't guess what is causing this. I will include the MKV MediaInfo information here below.

    Thanks!

This just happened again, the same thing. Sure would be nice to be able to find out WHAT setting or whatever is causing this phenomenon...

  3. zlib is the Matroska container compression. You can test if that is the cause by remuxing using MkvToolNix (GUI) and setting the compression for the subtitle track to "none".

Hey Sneaker, thanks man for the reply. Yeah, I DO do that also, but unfortunately that doesn't seem to have anything to do with why the video is not displaying at normal speed, but it shows at 1x, 2x FF, etc... I always have to use BDRB and re-render the damn thing by shrinking the output size a little. Which is a shame when you have a full Remux already...

  5. Try:
In MKVToolNix GUI go Preferences -> Multiplexer -> Default values and there set additional command-line options:
    --clusters-in-meta-seek --engage no_cue_duration --engage no_cue_relative_position --disable-track-statistics-tags
Restart the app and then re-mux the mkv file.

If it still doesn't work show more MediaInfo of both working and not working files. How do you create the files?

    Thanks Bro!

Yeah, I already have the two 'cue' entries (so my OPPO can FF properly) but, I will add the others.

What's even weirder is that after re-rendering the remux file with BDRB, then the resulting BDMV folder does play in the sense that I can now see the picture on my OPPO player, but it has this other phenomenon that I've also had at times and that is where the screen flashes between the scene and a green screen, and every few seconds the picture, such as it is, also pixelizes. Damn weird... Usually JUST with the green / pixelating thing, I can use an older version of TSMuxer and it fixes that (don't ask me why...) But, this time I get the one phenomenon with the straight file muxed to a BDMV folder with TSMuxer where the picture doesn't show unless FFing. Or, in this case, AFTER re-rendering the file using BDRB, the resulting BDMV folder now shows but with this 2nd phenomenon...

I'll try what you suggested and let you know. Thanks!

Hey there! Just wanted to follow through on what I THINK the deal was... To answer Sneaker's question, basically it is taking the movie file from a full BD. BUT... I THINK that is what is the issue is! I realized this last time when the same phenomenon happened, for some reason I went back and used BDRB to IMPORT the movie playlist file and THEN burn it. Aha! When I went back and looked at the BD structure, I realized that in BDRB you could bloody TELL that the 'movie file' was actually made up of SEVERAL m2ts files! B@stards! They must do that so that if you just simply choose what appears to be the 'main movie file' because it is so large, you don't realize that you are actually leaving out a few other files that might add up to just a few Gigs!

Ahhhhhhhh.... So, as I was saying, while looking at the structure inside of BDRB, I could then SEE that to import the movie playlist, that a few other files are also selected in addition to the one that I THOUGHT was the movie m2ts! So, in this last case anyway, and I'm ASSUMING that maybe this is what has happened before, after BDRB imported the COMPLETE movie playlist, THEN I was able to burn and play it just fine So, in always just quickly choosing the one large m2ts file and running it through TSMuxer and then burning it, at these times I was likely not getting the WHOLE movie!

So, after this, instead of doing that, which has worked I'd say about 95% of the time, I'm going to IMPORT the movie playlist using BDRB BEFORE burning it, to make sure I have the WHOLE bloody film!

At least that is what I discovered this time and I HOPE that is the answer to this very mysterious thing that has happened once in a while
