  1. I downloaded a movie and wanted to convert it to a VCD. TMPG wouldn't let me open the audio so I knew that I had to convert the audio to a seperate .wav.

I opened my avi file and got this error:
"VirtualDub has detected an improper VBR audio encoding in the source AVI file and will rewrite the audio header with standard CBR values during processing for better quality. This may introduce up to 18407 ms of skew from the video stream. If this is unacceptable, decompress the *entire* audio stream to an uncompressed WAV file and recompress with a constant bitrate encoder. (bitrate: 128.3 16.7kps)"

I ignored it not understanding it fully and followed the tutorial on how to get the audio with VirtualDub.

I went to audio--> full processing
Then audio conversion and changed it from 48000 to 44100

After that I went File-->Save Wav gave it a file name
    and ...
    Got this error:
"The requested audio compression is not compatible with the inpur format. Checkt that the sampling rate and channel of the input math those of the requested format."

I am not sure what is happening
Thanks in advance for any comments or suggestions

  2. I know this is what you want to hear but I got the same error and ignored it but then it did it. I didn't get a second error message like you . but did you make sure you selected no compression. There are three steps under audio you stated the first two but not the one about no compression. I don't know if this helped Good luck, VCD4Me

  3. Yes, I have no compression on.

I have tried another movie I got (also with 48000 ) and same error. This is really discouraging.

Again Thanks for your reply vcd4me

  4. Ok anyone who reads this:

    1. I don't think the first error made much of a difference.
    2. I think my problem is with my second error. I downloaded a Divx movie/trailer from the divx.com site (xXx trailer or something, no its no porn :P). I tried to get a .wav file from my avi and got the same error.

"The requested audio compression is not compatible with the inpur format. Checkt that the sampling rate and channel of the input math those of the requested format."
So, I guess I need to understand what the above error means and what I can do to fix it. Could it have anything to do with my codec possibly?

Well thanks in advance once again to anyone who spends a little bit of time thinking about my problem

  5. Everyone I got it figured out

I guess I needed a different audio codec. I unistalled divx 5.01 and install the nimo pack codec thing with decoder install option selected. It works

Thanks to everyone who read my post
