Missing Scenes after ripping

Hi,
I'm converting a DVD to VCD using Sefy's great guide,but on this certain DVD after ripping and encoding it is missing the first 10 mins.Can anyone help?

How are you encoding ? if you are using Flask/DVDx then i suggest when you rip, that you use Files mode and not Movie mode.

Hi,thanks for the response :) I'm using TMPGEnc plus,I tried it out also on dup-dvd(it's crap i know) and it came up the same;Dvdx won't run on my pc it says it's missing a DSOUND.DLL 11 .The film is "Drawing Flies" btw.

You are missing or you have an outdated DirectX, I suggest you update to the latest v8.1, you can download that from www.microsoft.com/directx

Did you rip your movie in files mode or movie mode ?

The error you got from DVDx is regarding the DirectX, so I suggest you first install that to fix that problem.

Once again thanks I installed directx 8.1 and dvdx nows work perfect.I have 2 more problems(sorry!).

1. I made chapters for the 1st VCD and it worked fine,when I tried to make chapters for the second VCD it failed saying the mpg is not big enough.

2.When I tried to burn off the files it said my Cd writer was not supported (Zipcdr drive),any ideas/help to alernative software?I don't have nero.

Glad to hear the DVDx problem is now solved, regarding your questions, how big is the second MPG file ?

Do you have access to: BlindWrite Suite / CDRWin / FireBurner ?

The second MPG file is 206,444 kb,bin format it is 2,279.I have both those programs on a disc somewhere,which is better to use?

The file sounds big enough to contain chapters, so the question is, how far apart are the chapters for the second part, maybe it's too far and doesn't fit the second part of your movie.

I suggest you first try CDRWin and then BlindWrite Suite.
