  1. Hello,
I'm posting this because I want to know if anyone has experience with 4k files. I will post color quality difference between players. I prefer best player for watching any 4k video is movies & tvs on windows 10 app, But this program doesn't play dts audio so kinda screws everything up.... Now I'm ending up looking different players. None of the standard quality come close to movies & tv player app for windows.

Here are my pics for 3 of the player i've used no changes in settings:

    Movies & TV Player https://ibb.co/k9TMHx

    MPC-HC Player https://ibb.co/gFq7qH

    PotPlayer https://ibb.co/hp1VAH

I always see small grain in mpc-hc and pot player and all the rest. Anyone can help me adjust the settings on pot player? That player seems to be most equivelent to movies & tv.

Its in Microsoft store and output is amazing for some reason. Vlc is the same as the rest of the other apps. I need to add additional filters to it I think.

  4. The problem isn't 4K , it's HDR.

  5. For HDR:
    - With MPC-HC there is the madvr renderer. In madvr's device options (for your display) you can set it to convert HDR->SDR incl. the max nits of your display (among other things).
    - VLC 3.0 brings HDR capabilities. Are you using an older version? If so try the latest one (3.0.1).

Damn I had old version of vlc 2.2.8 i'll update and try it. Also If I want to keep the hdr? I want my quality to be as close at as the movies & tv app any way possible?

  7. I don't want to turn the hdr off. I'd like to keep it on player like potplayer. That is best player so far but hdr is sdr on it.

I run Linux now but my default Windows video player was SMPlayer. It still is in Linux, and it has the best video playback performance I've seen in anything I've tried. Worth a shot.

Installing SMPlayer in WIndows can be a bit disconcerting at first. It's a front end for mplayer or mpv (mpv is the default one in Linux now but you can use either), and it will install that after smplayer. Looks suspicious but it's OK.

Wow that is a really nice player. Runs really smooth too just like potplayer. Do you know if you can enhance the color and such? Wow I went under file properties and they have a lot of video codecs. I'm gonna mess around see if anything changes.

    EDIT:

MPV player is the one!!!! https://mpv.io/ OMG this is what I was looking for!!!! Its actually way better than movies & tv player! The color is so amazing!!!
