I have numerous videos that are in either TS or TP video formats. I don't like the idea of converting any of my videos, but it seems like not a lot of popular streaming devices (such as Roku or Apple TV) actually support playing these two formats. So is there any streaming media devices out there that support a USB hard drive and can play .TS or .TP?

    Thanks so much.

A lot of TVs and Blu-ray players (2012 and later) can play TS files on a USB drive, although I'm not sure about TP. Might those options already be available to you?

[Edit]I took a quick look at the PDF manual for 3 Samsung and LG TVs (2012 - 2015 models ) and a 2012 Blu-ray player, owned by me or someone else in my family. All the TVs support TS and TP files. The 2012 Blu-ray player manual doesn't mention TP. It does play TS files.

  3. My old WDTV Live and my Raspberry Pi with Kodi can play TS files. I'm not sure about TP -- I don't have any. But they will play .TS files renamed .TP -- so the recognize the extension as a media file. If you want to upload a small one I'll try it out.

It's really only the big major brands like Apple, Google, and Roku that don't support transport streams.

The OP hasn't mentioned if he wants to use the streaming player to do anything more than watch locally stored video from a hard drive. If he also wants to watch paid services, like most people who buy one of these devices want to do, not all streaming media players provide access to every service (Amazon for one).

My thought was that if the OP already has another device handy that plays the files in question, then he would be free to get whatever streaming media player best suits him otherwise.

Popcorn A-500 will play virtually all file formats. https://www.cloudmedia.com/ Certainly TS files from my Beyonwiz PVR - on TP maybe just change the suffix to TS.
