2 pass encode gpu encoding

is there any apps anyone here knows of that allows 2 pass encoding with nvenc - looked at stax rip but couldnt see an option for it - im wanting x265 2pass nvenc encoding if possible

nvenc does not support "real" 2pass

Anything with "hq" label in the preset uses nvenc's version of "2pass". It's an internal 2pass; not what a "2pass encode" from a typical encoder entails. Instead of analyzing the entire file in the 1st pass, then modifying the decisions for the 2nd pass in terms of frametype, mb quantization - it just looks at an individual frame then adjusts the mb quantization of that frame


You can enable lookahead, which takes into account more frames and improves accuracy. Max 32. It's sort of a psuedo 2pass, but it does allow adjusting for frametypes (dynamic allocation)
