Say if your brand new to dvd2svcd. I offer the following advice if you don't wish to read the Q&A, references, FAQs, etc.
#1Rip a single chapter and test it out (quality, etc.)
#2 don't complain or wonder about time performance until you've done a little bit of reading of the guides. If you don't have 21 hours to spare then I'd suggest you spend a couple of hours reading and trim your time down. For the love of pete...please don't tell me you did 5 pass vbr especially with a processor like that.
I'm not trying to come across mean...but if you wish to have a sem-decent handle of how dvd2svcd works. Spend a little bit reading please.
If it makes you feel any better I used to do 33 hour encodes on a PIII 450MHz and that was only 3 pass vbr. -
yea...durons and celerons are on the lower end of CPU performance...don't be surprised to get 20+ hours in encoding for those CPUs...(btw..CPU is the MOST important factor in encoding time...so don't bother wasting money on other stuff w/o upgrading your CPU)

Even with an Athlon XP2200+ or a P4 Northwood 2.4GHz, encoding doesn't happen at the snap of the fingers. Like they pointed out, your CPU will be the time-critical component, so put your money there if you want to speed up the process (either that, or turn the quality settings way down and make a shabby-looking video).
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war." -
Spend the money, get a mac....gotta get my apple placements in when I can.
