Currently use TMPGenc to convert AVI/VOB to MPG but I get a slight pause every 10 secs or so, very slight and never bothered me but now I want to try to avoid this. Problem is though that this pause is caused by TMPGenc and my DVD player, a Cyberhome 528.
What other Encoders are just as good and would allow me to convert AVI as well as VOB files? I have had a browse through the tutorials but couldnt find one that would do the AVI part.

    Any ideas?

    Cheers

  2. Well, there are other encoders, but none of them has as many features as TMPGEnc and they are not free, the only thing that would compete with it in matters of quality, would be Panasonic and CCE, and they are both extremly expensive (CCE costs 3000$).

Your problem probably has nothing to do with how TMPGenc encodes. I've never heard of a dvd player that simply won't accept material encoded using a certain software encoder. As long as your disk complies to a standard and your dvd player supports that standard, it shouldnt matter how the disk was created.

I think that if you process audio and video together in TMPGenc than they end up not being multiplexed correctly. Its much better to encode separately and multiplex later. Also its much better to use bbmpeg to multiplex. TMPGenc MAY often multiplex correctly but bbmpeg DEFINITELY will every time. Maybe post what your encoding process is so I can see if there is anything there that might be causing this problem.
