  1. Hey guys I finally ripped Joy Ride DVD and ripped subtitles and audio streams out, but when I went to burn it and play it on my cdrom and dvd burner, nothing played, same with my dvd players, is there a way to make sure that it will work on my dvd players before I burn it? I tried playing it off my hard drive before I burnt it, but it didnt load into windvd I thought that was normal, but I could manually add each file into windvd and play it, so if anyone can give me some tips, it would be appreciated!

This is really simple, if you understand what you are doing, and burn the DVD-R with the proper software (I use the DVD-Video template in NERO 5.5.8.0, but some others will work, too - I'm told).

Okay, with that out of the way, there are some files that HAVE to be on a DVD (to be complient with the standard). If you don't specify all these files, Smartripper will NOT copy them to your HD. I use FILE BACKUP to copy these, NOT MOVIE.

    1) There has to be TWO directories:
    AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS.

The AUDIO_TS directory may, or may not be mandatory, because I have seen disks without it, but just to be safe, I always have one.

In the VIDEO_TS directory, these files HAVE to be there:

    VIDEO_TS.BUP
    VIDEO_TS.IFO
    VIDEO_TS.VOB
    VTS_01_0.BUP
    VTS_01_0.IFO
    VTS_01_0.VOB
    VTS_01_X.VOB <- contains the movie.
(I believe that this is complete, but I am doing this off the top of my head. To verify this, go to www.DOOM9.NET - they have excellent write-ups about what should be on a DVD and what the particular function of the file is.)

    2) Your directory and file names shouldn't be "JOLIET" extentions (ie, DO NOT LET LOWERCASE LETTERS BE USED). This is probably why some DVD players belch and others do not (among other reasons). Just to be safe, always use UC letters.
