  1. Hi everyone, I have a musical concert ripped in the classic DVD format (VIDEO_TS folder with .BUP, .IFO and .VOB files inside), I need to cut some parts and save them.

I know that probably this sounds as basic to most of you, but I'm not so newbie with this stuff, many thanks in advance for your help.

  2. Open the VOB(s) in MEG2Cut2 and use the [ and ] buttons to isolate a part you want to keep. Then save it out. It'll be saved as MPG.

    That's one way, anyway.

Usually each song is an individual Chapter.....even DVDShrink or DVDDecrypter to take just certain chapters.

And then? With the MPG file?

Set up DVDDecrypter in IFO Mode (the default is File Mode). With the DVD in the drive you'll be presented with the longest title (your concert or whatever it is). Then you'll also see a list of chapters with them all checked. Just check the one(s) you want and save it out.

You can do the same with the DVD already on the hard drive. Open the IFO for your concert in PGCDemux, choose to save by cell, choose the cell (chapter) you want and have it save out a VOB of it.

  7. I can't find MEG2Cut2, link please?

  8. Thanks, it worked perfectly. The size is a little big though, should I convert to any other format? I'd upload it on YouTube. Converting it I'll lose quality?

I apologize. I wasn't careful to check what I had written.
The size is a little big though...
It's roughly the same as the VOB from which it was made. No reencoding was done.
    I'd upload it on YouTube.
Is it interlaced? I don't know if YouTube deinterlaces videos uploaded as interlaced these days, although they recommend you not upload interlaced sources:

    Frame rate

Content should be encoded and uploaded in the same frame rate it was recorded.

Common frame rates include: 24, 25, 30, 48, 50, 60 frames per second (other frame rates are also acceptable).

Interlaced content should be deinterlaced before uploading. For example, 1080i60 content should be deinterlaced to 1080p30, going from 60 interlaced fields per second to 30 progressive frames per second.

Yes, and since YouTube will reencode it themselves, it's usually in your best interests to upload the best version you have. You could always do a test by uploading a video or part of a video, keeping it private, and then have a look at what YouTube did with (or to) your video.

  10. Where can I see if it's interlaced? And if it's, how can deinterlace it?

  11. To see it you can play it and pause during a scene with movement. Make sure the deinterlacer is turned off in your player.

You deinterlace it by applying a deinterlacer.

Are you sure you're up to this? One thing YouTube does not need is more videos by incompetent uploaders. Here, have a look:

Or you could make available a 10-second or so unprocessed piece of your video and we can have a look.

  12. Upping this thread... I need to take the audio from this MPG file I extracted using mpg2cut2. I tried Pazera Free Audio Extractor but it sucks, the MP3 file coming out is not good.

Without knowing what tools you already have on your computer, what doesn't work doesn't really help much. Personally I'd use Goldwave....or Audacity.
You can just drag the video file into GoldWave and save it as .wav or MP3......just make sure you save it as 44.100 audio....not 48.

One way to extract the audio untouched is to open that MPG in DGIndex and then go File->Save Project. In addition to the D2V project file, you'll also get the original DVD audio.

Or you can open the MPG in AoA Audio Extractor and save it out either as a WAV file or have it converted to MP3 at the same time.
