I was creating my signature for my new profile and discovered that this site "censors" some words: PCH and Emotiva were two that I tried.

Does anyone know why this site censors certain manufacturers? I thought this was a generalized forum that wasn't tied to any specific company or product.

I'm just trying to understand and respect the impositions as warranted. Perhaps "PCH" may have a basis for being banned, but "Emotiva" flabbergasts me completely as it's just a audio amplifier manufacturer. Without background context, I'm clueless to the signature censorship here.

Actually, if the site censors these words I could not read them in your OP.

I should have made it clear in the title: the site censors certain words in SIGNATURES!

Regular body text in posts don't appear to be censored.

    1) You can change the title of the thread by editing the first post.

    2) many $pammer$ use the sigfile field for $pamming.

Then you should really address the issue to the forum admin either by a PM or in the feedback forum.

But just an educated guess that the sig is just to get somat off yer chest rather than quote what your system is - your profile is the correct place for that. Adding commercial product in your sig could be interpretated as product placement ie spam and that is AFAIK not allowed.

Ahhh, didn't know I had the ability to edit titles as a noob. Many other sites don't authorize that level of access, at least for non-admins and newly minted members.

I can definitely understand that reasoning, but just only two words were censored; and many well-known manufacturers are obviously not being censored as evidenced in my sig.

From other "help" forums, having the components of your system incorporated into your sig assists others in formulating responses to queries that maybe context-related (specific to the OP's setup) or help to better tailor the response to the OP.

Since this forum is dedicated to assisting people with AV issues, sigs having a member's AV setup (including manufacturer) seems appropriate.

But I will heed your suggestion and populate the feedback forum with this inquiry.

  10. Someone is really proud of their HiFi system. Strange for a vid forum.

BTW, is showing your sig akin to showing your knickers?

Do you swallow or just let it dribble out and spit?

I see you have been welcomed by one of our most active trolls. LOL Strangely, up until very recently Selfie himself used a sig, although he's changed it a few times.

Many here do include their A/V gear in their Computer details, but this is not the first time I've seen them listed in a sig.

It's all good! I'm far from a noob of forums. I really have no idea how inclusive or exclusive this "forum" is (video, audio, computer software, etc): I came across it from a Google search regarding a related problem I was having and so decided to post an inquiry here for assistance. I assumed "video help" covered the entire audio-video spectrum, hardware and software included, because, is there really a significant segment that deals just with silent videos that needs assistance? And only watching said video on a computer monitor.

    Me thinks not.

This forum is mostly video-related, but threads about audio problems as well as threads about computer problems are not unusual. There are some other audiophiles in our membership, although I am not among them.
