When making a 1080p Bluray and I enter the --bluray-compat switch in x264 settings do I still need to enter all of the following as well or will the --bluray-compat switch choose all the correct settings automatically?:
--vbv-maxrate 15000 --vbv-bufsize 15000 --level 4.0 --keyint 100 --slices 1
Bit confused about the vbv maxrate and bufsize settings as well. What are the correct settings to use for them?
Should the maxrate be 40,000 for Level 4.1 (if 1 sec GOP) and 15,000 for 2 sec GOP?
Should Level 4.0 be 24,000 for 1 sec GOP? and 15,000 for 2 sec GOP?
What should the bufsize be? Spec table says 30,000 for Bluray and 15,000 for DVD.
Why does it mention DVD in the spec table when it's talking about HD resolutions?

Yes, you still need vbv etc. You can find everything explained here:

I cannot fully answer your questions because you mentioned neither fps or your target medium (Blu-ray or DVD).
This is only meant as a hint for home users. DVD reading speeds are lower than Blu-ray reading speeds so you need lower vbv. Of course a DVD is never a "true" spec-compliant Blu-ray. -
You still need to set these.
