  1. I recently bought a Thomson DTH-4200 and am quite happy with it. One thing though: It doesn't read any rewritable CDs. I tried different brands [1], different authoring and burning apps (vcdimager + cdrdao, Nero, WinOnCD) and different kinds of discs (mp3, VCD, SVCD, Audio-CD). None of them worked.

Anyhints on what kind of CD-RW brand to use or any other tips?

    TIA!

    TDK 700 Multispeed 700MB (1-4x)
    TDK 700 Highspeed 700MB (4-10x)
    Lite-On (Plasmon Ltd.) 650MB (4-10x)
    MMORE (Princo Ltd.) 650MB(1-4x)
    Intenso 650MB (1-4x)
    BASF/Emtec (Mitsubishi) 650MB (1-4x).

  2. Hi!!

I don;t know about DTH4500 but I have a THOMSON DTH5000X and it has some compatibility problems with CDRW too, it absolutely doesn't recognize some MAXELL and one HP, plays some data lost with one TRAXDATA i tried, then finally I tried one TEAC (10x speed compatible) included with my CDRW writer and it worked very well with VCD and SVCD with Nero. I will also try TDK as from a suggestion answered to one my post but i see you already tried it, I see you tried a lot of brands, if you can find a TEAC CDRW try it too burning it at the lowest speed. Always use the lowest speed burning CD for audio/video application, higher speeds could give reading problems.
THe DTH5000X manual suggest to use not CDRW media, but it works with some of them, but it is funny that many recent products that declare they can use CDRW have a very LOW compatinlity too!

    Best regards

    Carlo
