  1. I have made at least $ 15 worth of coasters with my Pioneer DVR-A04. I have used Nero and Prassi both but coaster after coaster with no luck. I can burn DVD movies without a problem but when I try to back up some mpeg 1 and Divx files on DVDr disc just won't work.

    Any Suggestions

  3. One error reported by prassi after I use test and then burn is buffer under error and the other errors I don't remember but they all come about two minutes after I start burning. The disc don't even make it to 1 percent before they terminate with errors using Nero or Prassi.

  4. If its a buffer underrun, then you may have a problem with the amount of activity on the system. A buffer underrun is when your drive doesnt get the data feed it needs to complete the burning and it looses its place and fails. This is caused alot by, highly fragmented hard drives, a program accessing the disc, windows virtual memory accessing the disc at bad times,
Something to try is, defrag your harddrive, and if that doesnt help, try shutting off all other programs that are running except those necessary for the burn and windows of course. If it works, try turning some back on one by one when you have the problem again, you know who the culprit is.

Also, dont do a whole lot of things while burning, anything that needs the disc could interrupt the burn process, and unless you have bufferunderrun protection you will fail at the burn.

  5. You might try making a hardware profile in Windows that only includes the bare minimum cards/components you will need to burn a DVD. I don't have a DVD-burner, but for instance when I don't want to drop frames on a vid capture, I use my Pinnacle profile I created that has the modem, USB, ethernet, some soundcard functions... all disabled. If you don't want to screw with your windows registry to stop programs from starting, go a search for "Startup Manager". It lets you pick and choose what programs to start when windows starts. Make it so only things essential to DVD burning starts. Also keep disk activity to a minimum while burning.

  6. 2 solutions,

    1. get one dvd-rw to test check some burns

    2. get a 1394 converter from www.caloptic.com and put your 104 ( my A03 has been coverted ) on the firewire bus. I no longer make buffer underruns and I can do as i please ( rip on my Pioneer 116 which has not yet been 1394 converted ) and websurf while it burns in the background.

Whats odd is the 104 has burn proof, while my A03 does not, so I am suprised you are getting coasters.
