hi there,
i've got a relatively old system, no money to spend on software and no inclination to learn anything potentially complicated. i used elements 3 years ago, had fun and did ok work so i have a basic understanding but it's been awhile. all i want to do is capture video from my webcam, be able to cut in footage from the internet, and similarly play with the audio. be cool if i was able to slow motion the video too i think and oh yeah, i want to upload vid from my cel. anyway, i imagine that's all pretty standard so my question at this point is,
With Windows 7 Home what it the easiest free editing software (with the most bells and whistles) that is available to me? i've read a bit about this one: https://www.videohelp.com/software/AviUtl.
i'd be grateful for all insight thank you
sincerely,
Clint

AviUtl is very 'potentially complicated'.
Change your thread title to something besides 'Help please' so it catches the eye of someone that might actually be able to help. Maybe something like 'Freeware Video Editing Software Recommendations'. -
Clint John Mitchell, in the future please use a more descriptive subject title in your posts to allow others to search for similar topics. I will change yours this time. From our rules:
Try to choose a subject that describes your topic.
Please do not use topic subjects like Help me!!! or Problems.

Lots of free Web Cam capture programs out there. Just google it. For beginners, learning to edit vids, try Movie Maker. It's the most simplistic editor I know of and also free. Don't upload with cell. That's just another complicated step for beginners. Use your computer to upload.

If you have Windows 7 32-bit, you might be able to use Windows Movie Maker 2.6 for Vista. It has more features than some newer incarnations of Windows Movie Maker.

The scan I did with VirusTotal showed one malware scanner reported a problem, but the other 54 did not, so the single finding is probably a false positve, and the file is likely safe to install.
If you have Windows 7 64-bit, try the 64-bit version of Windows Movie Maker 6 instead.

VirusTotal gave a clean report for the 64-bit version of Windows Movie Maker 6.
As I recall, cell phone video is often problematic to edit because most editors choke on variable frame rate video. Too bad I can't recall if there is an easy way to convert variable frame rate video to constant frame rate for editing. Maybe someone else knows.Last edited by usually_quiet; 28th Sep 2016 at 14:14.
