i am trying to encode a movie using TMPGEnc-2.51.33.127 , it uses up all my cpu even with all progs running in background , i have an 1800 xp+ cpu , i have been unsuccessful with this encoder a few times , yet to be successful , this morning it had finished at 100% i moved my mouse and it froze , why is this proggy using up all my cpu and what free encoder should i try next ?

its a bugs life im doing and its ntsc 4.3 ripped from a dvd silver .

is there a guide to ripping an ntsc movie ?
