I just had a third monitor lose it's DVI input. I did a search but all I found was personal comments,no facts. It was 1 Hanns-G and 2 Acer monitors. What's up?

I assumed you tried different cables and the DVI port is dead. My only guess is a way out of range signal or a unexpected voltage on one of the input leads.
I've got a 23" Hanns G monitor and it's worked perfectly on the DVI input for about three years.
DVI doesn't have the 'handshaking' like HDMI, AFAIK, so that shouldn't affect the port. -
DVI has to be capable of handshaking. DVI supports HDCP and a simple HDMI to DVI-I/DVI-D cable can be used to connect an HDMI video source to a DVI display.
...but I agree that wulf109 is either very unlucky or there is something wrong with the signal, which would either be caused by the DVI cable or his video card. -
HDMI is a DVI with difference to additional data sent during VBLANK. Any HDMI is backward compliant with DVI and it is able to operate in plain DVI mode.
How you provide power to monitor and PC? Perhaps problem is with proper grounding and as such HDMI/DVI can't operate properly? -
There's an old adage that goes "Once is bad luck, twice is coincidence, three times is enemy action."
I would throw the DVI cable into the trash, and seriously look very hard at getting a different video card.
Unless these things have already been done, which was not mentioned.
Don't think I have EVER encountered a monitor port going bad, and that covers many hundreds of monitors.
Are there any other electrical or magnetic devices within 5 feet of the cable, card, or monitor? Drill press or arc welder, maybe?
