    After transfering a Hi8 tape of some 32 minutes to the harddrive in AVI uncompressed format, editing down to (say) 22 minutes with all the usual cuts, filters, effects, etc, etc and creating a final AVI version the audio is some 5 - 10 seconds behind by the end of the new creation..?

    The computer system is quite well spec'd and is usually able to handle this load well with-in it's limits.

    All setting appear to be correct and have been unable to find the cause.
    Anyone have any thoughts towards this problem - your advice would be very much appreciated, thanks.

  4. try encoding with Virtualdub.....
    check the encoding settings also....

    want to make that into a VideoCD compatible MPEG1 file (ratio of 1min=10mb) then you must do
    the encoding in all the settings accordingly:

    Video = 352x240
    Video Bitrate = 1150kbits
    Audio = 16bit, 44.1khz, Stereo
    Audio Bitrate = 224k
