    Hi,

I have some large faulty mpeg files recorded from my TV tuner card. The file when played only plays a video of around 20 seconds. Actual recording is around 1 hour.

I have tried three software, Womble MPEG Video Wizard, Grau GbRs Video Repair Tool and MPEG Corrector. The former two could only repair 1.2 MB from the 850 MB file. Thus all failed.

Please suggest a powerful professional Mpeg repair tool. Will Sony Vegas Studio be able to do something?

Thanks for help or diagnosis of the issue.

You can try Videoredo and see if it can open the mpg video. Try the quickstream fix in it. Try trial first.

The old ProjectX and PVAStrumento may work for some mpeg/ts tv-tuner/dvb streams also.

    Hi.
Sorry to mention, I also tried it on Videoredo earlier. So that makes four.

Do you have any other suggestions for paidware, especially a professional level restorer? These files are very important and I can go for a high end software also.

    Regards.

  4. Sony Vegas won't do anything (I own Vegas Pro).

You can try using ffmpeg to simply trim a few frames from the beginning and end of the files. Sometimes these problems are caused by faulty MPEG headers.

Take a good look at the capture software you are using with your tuner card and see if it has some sort of editing or fixing utilities.

Contact the capture card manufacturer and ask for their help.
