Hi. Here's another DVD sample. In the MeGUI 'normal' preview, there's combing to be seen. When I put 'yadif with bob' on it, there's double the frames (obviously) but every one seems unique. I reckon I just need QTGMC but a second opinion would be welcomed. Thank you.

After bobbing the frames may be unique, but you can see the ghosting or double or blended images, can't you? That's an indication of field blending. It's been converted from film to PAL by one of the worst ways. To fix it you unblend it:
Yadif(Mode=1)#or the better QTGMC
SRestore()
That will return it to film speed and remove all the interlacing and most of the blending. -
Thanks for that. Yes, I do see ghosting but I always assumed that there would be something like that in all motion sequences. Say I had a progressive movie, would every still frame have sharp edges i.e. like a good photograph?

Depends on the quality of the source. I've worked on plenty of DVDs and tapes which just weren't very sharp to begin with. Anyway, there's a difference between the motion blur to which you're referring and blended fields.
First, a film is made up of progressive frames. Here you have interlaced frames created by the conversion. So, already this is something very different from what you're thinking of. Second, these fields (or bobbed frames) aren't just blurry as they might be from motion blur. You can see distinct blends from two different fields being blended into one. And the movement isn't fast enough in your sample to create motion blur, even if the conversion had been done properly. It's just some girls walking, and not a car chase or something faster.
