Hi!
I'm new here, and my English is too not the best.
I capture Videos from local DVB-t TV, an here are 2 versions of Broadcasting -coding- systems.
The first one is O.K., but the second, the commercial TV's have another coding System, that I
cann't convert to .avi (x264 vfw, ac3) with Virtualdub. I use K-Lite Codec Pack, the latest, and ffdshow,
as Video decoder is LAV the dafault, for Audio ffdshow. As Splitter Lav Splitter. The Problem is, that
VirtualDub doesn't recognise the Audio stream from the commercial channels, which are:
(MediaInfo v0.7.75)
ID: 2032 (0x7F0)
Format: AAC
Format Profile: HE-AAC / LC
Muxing Mode: LATM
Codec ID:17
The video opens correctly in VirtualDub, only if I try to play it, comes an error message: "Unrecognized audio stream, Format ID: fffe"
It must to be something with the audio codecs configuration (vfw), or a codec , filter missing.
Please help me, if You can!
WbR.:
Zoltan
P.S.: I've VirtualDub with all installed plugins (but maybe not all???)
I've uploaded a ~100MB video file: http://data.hu/get/9128357/000.rar

VirtualDub is an AVI editor based on "Video for Windows".
No matter how many DirectShow filters you may install, VirtualDub does not use DirectShow. You will probably have not installed matching VfW codecs, neither for AVC video nor for AAC audio (and so called "Codec Packs" may mess up your Windows with a bunch of unnecessary DirectShow filters, but that won't fix your lack of VfW codecs).
To load content from DVB in AVC (H.264) and AAC, (after some pre-cleaning) best convert the TransportStream files to MKV using mkvtoolnix, then open them via AviSynth using L-SMASH Source or FFMS2. Even if VirtualDub could open such files with matching plugins, it won't be able to cut and edit them all the way you like, such material is not meant to be edited freely anymore, it was made for efficient compression.
To convert this material, you may use e.g. StaxRip, MeGUI, Hybrid, HandBrake, etc.; the better you can describe what else you want to do beyond simple conversions, the better we can help you finding a good workflow. -
Thanks! VirtualDub had worked for me good, since in July had the commercial TV providers modified something in
their Broadcasting System. It works now with hungarian national senders afterwards good)
I will my recordings recode in a format, that I can edit too (remove commercials, etc.), and clean up
from unneeded audio, TXT, Menu streams. At VirtualDub had I not the 'must to do it separately.
I've tried HandBrake, and was satisfied with it, only I hadn't the possibility to edit the .MKV Video Files.
I haven't found a good App to cut commercials off of the stream..

And to the Codec Pack and DirectShow Filters:
What do You recommend? I know, that many formats are useless for me, but which are important?
Splitter: do I need it?
I'm not very familiare with this Question(((
)))
PS.: I have all my videos in AVi, (x264vfw/MPEG4 + ac3 48000, 16bit cbr:160kb/s), and my Home Media Player (DVB-T Player) supports: Avi, MKV, TS, ...? But Mp4 or M4P not.

But others may not read German easily...
The reason why some videos are so hard to edit is not that they are inside in a TS container or inside an MKV container, that doesn't matter ... the reason is usually, that they contain AVC (H.264) video. This is an "end format", not meant to be edited easily (video formats are either easy to edit, or compressed efficiently; the better quality/compression ratio, the less editable). The only way to edit it in any way you like is to decode it, but then the result would become huge if you would save it to disk again ...
Here is one of the biggest advantages of AviSynth as frameserver: It doesn't save an intermediate file (no more Giga-/Terabyte AVIs), it edits the clip virtually (in RAM only, using a script) and sends the decoded, cut, and possibly filtered frames to another encoder.
Okay, you may lose a bit quality this way, you won't cut your clip losslessly this way. But with a little experience you can avoid most obvious loss, and even polish the content a bit before encoding it afterwards.
And another advantage: With good native source plugins ("L-SMASH Works" or FFMS2), AviSynth does not need any DirectShow filters installed. No Codec Pack to be afraid of, for potentially harming your system.
A disadvantage may be that you would have to learn how to cut your clip virtually, with a script containing functions to be applied to a clip variable. But this is by far mor flexible than anything VirtualDub can do. Even "Non-Linear Editing" is possible, applying different filters to different parts of a clip and combining them finally. And yes, you can also load and dub the audio, to edit it in sync with the video. -
Thank You for Your Instructions, they are very interesant, and I will try them as I can..)))
For now is my Problem is with a DVB-T audio stream, that I have recorded.
I will put here the Details, copied from MediaInfo. I don't know, how to configure
codecs so i can decode it.

The video Stream opens well, can too cut off commercials and decode in other format,
only the audio stream is unknown in VirtualDub. From other TV Channels works all fine!
Thank You,
Have a nice evening! -
Hi!
Have found a version of VirtualDub, that solves my Problem!
http://www.digital-digest.com/software/virtualdub-aio.html
This version has a Built-in VFW Codecs and Filters, all, what I need!!
Finaly! I was in trouble with this the last 2 months))))
Best Wishes!
PS: If You don't find this version there, google for "virtualdub-aio" ))) -
OK, nice. You managed to cut down a tree using a ripsaw where others would have used a chainsaw.
It may have included the "ffmpeg input plugin", I guess. This uses the same decoder as FFMS2 or L-SMASH Source for AviSynth.
Still, you may have to export huge intermediate files. A pity, such a waste of disk space. Compared with a small script doing the same and much more.
