I have a Canon HF M506 at the moment, it has no microphone input, but the Canon DM-100 can be attached to it and it sends the data into the camcorder through the mini hot shoe. The problem is that the DM-100 costs way too much for me. Is there anything like a Canon mini hot shoe-jack line in adapter, or a non-Canon branded mini hot shoe microphone that is cheaper? I couldn't find any online, but maybe I missed something among the lines.

For that kind of money just get a Tascam or Zoom recorder.

I managed to obtain a Canon HF M41 and I connected my Audio Technica ATR25 stereo microphone to it. This is the end result, so far this is the best what I could achieve within my money limits:

Can the Tascam or Zoom recorder produce better results? I checked their price, as used they would be affordable for me, but a better Condenser Mic. is not really. I think I should get one around 150-200$ to have a better sound than this in the video.

I need a setup for live filming on concerts in situations when recording from the line-out is not always an option.
