  1. Yep, I still have my old VCR and a convertible box which has become handy again since I gave up Cable. I still have the Philco converter box manual. In that manual, is shows a small diagram on how to hookup to another device ( VCR ). It says, get a 2 x 1 splinter for antenna input and 2 outputs, one going to the input of the "Box" and the other, to the VCR..and it ends right there...which is confusing me. There are 3 outputs, and i do not know how to go from there. Obviously, one has to go to the TV input..but from which output, the VCR or the "Box"?

What type of "converter" box are we talking about? I assume this is a digital converter unit?

If so, antenna into the converter. And from the converter to the TV and the VCR. The splitter would be used to split the converter output, unless your model has two outputs.

Does the TV have a digital tuner or do you need to use the converter box for the TV as well as the VCR?

yes, its the converter box that was given when analog was going digital. I just kept in my closet, unused. My TV is a late Samsung 55" ( 5 years old ). My main problem is that i get wonderful channels with the autoscan on the "Box", but the way i have it hooked up now, I can only view those channels with the VCR on and have to change the channels with the Box remote. I was hoping I can get those same channels on my TV, without the benefit of having my vcr on, and use my TV remote, but I don't. Eventually though I would like to have the option to record from my vcr, if and when necessary. BTW, the vcr is not digital.

I'm just hoping the converter box and the VCR have red/white/yellow composite video and stereo audio connections instead of just RF in and RF out.

    1. Connect the RF splitter's RF-in to the antenna out from the wall.
    2. Connect one of the RF spltter's RF-out connections to the converter box's RF in.
    3. Connect the RF spltter's remaining RF-out to the TV's RF in.
    4. Connect the converter box's red/white/yellow composite video and stereo audio out connections to the VCR's red/white/yellow composite video and stereo audio in. If the VCR only has RF in, then connect its RF in to the converter box's RF out.
    5. Connect the VCR's red/white/yellow composite video and stereo audio out connections to one set of the TV's red/white/yellow composite video and stereo audio in ports.
