Hi all. I use the youtube-dl tool on my desktop pc under windows xp home. I've been using it successfully for some time now. And now that I am spending more time on my Dell laptop (64bit) developing apps, I would like to install and run the youtube-dl so that I can download some tutorials when I want.

I was wondering which version should I be installing on a 64bit dell laptop computer, or does it not matter in this case, since the youtube-dl tool is 32bit anyway.

    https://www.python.org/
Python 3.4.3 - Python 2.7.9 -- latest version (Release Date: 2015-02-25), but not downloaded

I have the following downloaded on my desktop pc hdd:
    python-2.7.9rc1.amd64.msi
python-2.7.9rc1.msi -- installed on my desktop

Which one do you recommend ?

    Thanks in advance.

I doubt it matters but I would use the 2.7.9 32bit version.

  3. Hi vhelp ,

Normally it doesn't matter ( Python is for others OS ) .

    DL at
    https://yt-dl.org/downloads/2015.05.15/youtube-dl.exe

    Put youtube-dl.exe in D:\YTBE , and launch it .

    Cheers .

I managed to get the 32bit installed/working and downloaded my first video via youtube-dl on the laptop. Thanks everyone for your suggestions and tips.
