  1. I've read through most, if not all the guides on ripping DVDs but I cannot find what I want to do. Most of the DVDs I've been ripping can be copied completely onto a DVD-R if I just re-encode the movie at a lower bitrate. But once I get my new set of VOB files, how do I fix the IFO files so that the DVD will work with the new set of smaller, lower bitrate VOB main movie files? I hope I am being clear enough here to get a good answer...thanks in advance.

  2. how are you re encoding the movie, via tmpegenc or cce? or are you in ifoedit going to the menu extras, and then have the create new vob files selection checked ( after which it will take ou a series of selection menu asking you what you ant to keep ).

I do not re encode at a lower bitrate, I encode just the main movie at veryhgh bitrates and then author in DVD Worshop.

The reason you have over 4.3 Gb in vob files is usaullyou can have a DTS track, a DD track, a director's commentary track, foriegn languages tracks, and subtitles, otherwise if the DVD is only the movie and a DD track it will copy over n/p ( once ripped ) to a dvd-r.

  3. Have you tried IFOedit - this prog will set up the IFO files needed once you have written your new VOBS.

  4. I was doing this in an attempt to keep all the extras on the DVD. I rip out the extra languages etc, but then I re-encode the movie using TMPEG at whatever bitrate I need to make it all fit. After re-encoding it though I dont know what to do in IFOedit to fix the IFO files once I've re-encoded the movie.
