  1. Greetings All,

I am building a new PC "AMD XP" and was wondering what "problem free" motherboards are in use out there with an ATI all in wonder Radeon. Now I have a Abit KT7 with 1.2 Ghz Athlon and Soundblaster x-gamer card and I can't capture above 480*480 and have some clicking in my soundtrack. I tried re-installing windows, shutting down programs, checking IRQ's, no gain. So before I build my next PC, I thought I throw the question out there for other users to please give me feedback.

  2. Well -
I have an iWill KK-266R that I have not had any problems with and have been able to capture at 720*480. But it is VIA KT133A chipset - so no DDR memory. I'm assuming you will want something newer than that, but I thought I would help kick off the conversation.

  3. hi binkyaut,
That's fine I have a KT7 raid with a old kt133 chipset and I can't get a high capture rate or good sound and I almost gave up on Via. But thanks very much on your feedback.

I have two different systems, both using AMD chips and both capture great using ATI AIW 128Pro and 7500. One is a FIC AZ31 mb using the 7500, it was hard setting up, had to upgrade BIOS. The other is using MSI 6330 mb(K7T Turbo 2) and AIW 128Pro, very easy to set up. Loaded WIN2K, MSI 4 in 1 driver, MSI sound driver, and then MMC 7.1.

  7. The only time I have clicking sound was using the non-standard setting using sticky's MMC tool trying to capture in SVCD format, standard template I had no problem.

Since no one else has a system that matches your,... and mine does, Ifelt I would add my two cents.

I have a KT7 motherboard with the via chip set. My system is a AMD Duron at 750 MHZ and I have no problems capturing. There could be several problems with your setup,... but the first thing I would ask you to do would be to go the the VIA Hardware chip web site and get the latest driver updates for you motherboard. I think the latest is called the 4 in 1 update. The via chips totally control the transfer of data in and out of memory and to your hard disk drives.

Also, there have been lots of reports about troubles with the soundblaster sound cards. Since I don't have one I've never had to fix the problem,.. but you can do a search on the forum and hopefully find the problem.

I know you've said you check everything,.. but with the processor you have you should not have any problem capturing at higher res. sizes.

If you want some more details... take a look at the UserGuides and look for my post on "How to tune you system for ATI capture".

I had all kinds of problems before I tuned my system,... and got rid of the Via chipset problems,.. etc.

    Hope this helps

  11. It's always tough building a machine around a periferal.

Good Motherboard companies will list compatability with roducts (Tyan does) and that's all I've ever seen. www.dejanews.com is a good resource. KT266 chipset boards is a good place to start I think. I think MSI is a good bet. But no deffinate answer here.

Sorry for the lack of answers.
