  1. any movie released by centropy always has audio sync problems on my apex 5131,they play fine on my pc and it only has problems with centropy releases.someone told me it was because centropy encodes the movies in pal and the apex isnt doing a good job with the conversion...is there any easy way to fix this?

I had that problem and I have the same model. It is the CDs you are using.
The model we got can not handle cheap CD. I have only found 1 brand so for that will solves it. Memorex CD-R and CD-RW. OH! try using a MPEG files. you do not need to covert them to CVDs just Mpegs. I get a much better picture with just MPEG files. The more editing is done the more you loose. You loose a little of the file quality each time you edit it. It is like making a copy of a copy.I download Monsters Inc as a mpeg poped it in my DVD player on two CD-RW Memorex and it played great. you can only have a MAX of two mpeg/moive files on the disk or it will not run.

  5. I have an Apex AD5131. I used Memorex and I still had problems. Plus, since VCD/XSVCD are written in a different file mode than an ISO disc, you can hold more info in VCD/XSVCD format on one disc. Hence, you can only hold upto a 700mb file on an 80 minute CDR, whereas (in VCD/XSVCD at least) you can fit 800mb on an 80 minute CDR (As so mentioned in the tutorial). That being said. I tried something that might interest you. Heres a way to make an XSVCD that holds upto roughly 80 min; it also seems to have solved my similar problem.

I have a PAL Centropy release of VS and for some odd reason it plays perfect. With LOTR however, I converted from a DIVX file down to a VCD Format MPEG-1 and it had loads of audiosync problems. So I experimented; I converted it to an XSVCD w/ 352x240 resolution, corresponding Framerate (in this case 23.96327...), 1150 video bitrate (same as VCD), and 224 audio bitrate (also same as VCD). It worked surprisingly well. The files came out to be the same size as the original VCD MPEG-1 (give or take 1 MB) allowing me to fit the same section of movie on a single disc like the original and since MPEG-2 uses a different set of hardware instructions (I assume) it solved the sync problem (at least for me).

    It's worth a shot.

  6. I have the AD5131 as well. I don't have audio out of sync problems, but rather at about 40 minutes into each VCD/SVCD that I download the video gets totally hosed. As in it starts showing me white blocks randomly around the screen, then black ones, then @ symbols and it stops for a couple seconds and just starts getting worse. Before this spot, it works perfectly. This is only on movies that I have downloaded (Blackhawk Down and The Rookie are the 2 most recent). These same movies play fine on my Apex 500W. Also, any DVD's that I backup using DVD2SVCD work perfectly.
I don't know why any of this is happening of course, but I figured that I should add my problems to the list in case anyone has any ideas.
