  1. I have been able to make a VCD using Pinnacle Studio 7 to convert to Mpeg1 and then using Ulead DVD Movie Studio to make the VCD. When playing back the VCD on the computer or the Television the picture quality is quite poor and looks to be overexposed in some areas. When playing the DV tape or the AVI file the quality is fine. Should I use another product to convert to Mpeg from AVI? Or is there something else I am doing wrong? Also, I have tried to make a SVCD which will not play on my DVD player. I noticed the files on the SVCD are Mpeg and on the VCD are DAT. Did I do something wrong on the SVCD?

    Thank You!

I suggest not to use Unlead DVD. You should try Adobe premier and always encode directly to mpeg first!.. From mpeg, straight encode to a vcd mode using Tmpge software with its filters features.

  3. Thank You for the Advise! I am using TMPGENC right now to convert the AVI to Mpeg for VCD. I am doing two methods, one using the normal encode and one using all the best Quality and noise reduction. I do not have the Adobe but I have Nero so maybe I will use Nero instead of U-Lead. I thought the U-Lead was good??

    Thank You again!
