  1. My mate tells me to set the GOP to 142 for Pal ....at the moment it is set at 152 which he says is for ntsc .....is this information right or is my mate talking bull s**t .....

  2. So far as I know, there is no relationship between GOP settings and PAL or NTSC. The numbers refer to I, B, and P frames, with I using the most bits, P less, and B much less. P and B are using the other frames to determine redundant data which is thrown out to reduce the amount of info in the frame. more P and B frames do not reduce the filesize, but they will allow you to use a lower bitrate without reducing image quality, and the lower bitrate WILL reduce filesize. However, too many P and B frames can result in too much loss of frame detail.
    There are also many other factors involved, such as I frames are needed for edit points and auto-insertion of I-frames for scene changes. The short version is that I don't think you would see much difference between 1, 4, 2 and 1, 5, 2. take a look at KWAG's template, he's using P or B numbers as high as 20, the clips look great.

  3. Thanx ......but wher do i find the KWAGS Template...sorry about this i`m a complete newbie .....and have followed the step by step instruction on this site for making a vcd from dvd ....and i think the quaility could be better...but don`t know how .....
