I just wanted to share what I found. I'm not sure if this has been shared before in this forum.

I used VideoPack4 to author the CD. After working with it off-and-on since 5 a.m. this morning (it's not 3:25 p.m.) I got something that would work ... partially. Let me explain.

I downloaded a copy of VideoPack 4 from somewhere, can't remember where (email me if you really want me to dig for the download location). I installed it today and found it didnt support any of the three burners I have attached to my system.

I read the forums (important: READ every post related to your search term; there are gems hidden deep within posts) and discovered the Roxio site has drivers for a bunch of burners that VideoPack 4 doesn't directly support. So I downloaded the driver for my Philips 4401 CD-RW. I'm sad to say VideoPack 4 still didn't directly support my burner after I installed the driver ... but!

The explorer in me said, "Try to burn the Loveing CD anyway. Who cares if you blow up the Philips? You still have to really pretty Sony's to hang out with." So I did.

I dragged a simple JPG and and MPEG into the VideoPack 4 screens. I liked them in the sequence I wanted them to play (note: I have not yet experimented with complex menus). I burned the thing. I got an error. I hit "OK." IT FINISHED BURNING THE CD ANYWAY.

I first put the CD in my Apex. I played, brilliantly. There was virtually no blockiness (virtually). I was very excited! After the video finished (I encoded a music video) I hopped up to pop out the CD and try it in my other DVD player. Before I could get to it, the AUDIO PORTION OF THE VIDEO CD started to play! It just went on as before, no video, but perfect CD quality audio.

The sad news is when I put this very same disc in my JVC player, it only played the video portion of the disc, not the CDDA portion. Hmmmm....

Interesting enough, when I looked at the file structure of this CD, the CDDA portion had also been transposed into a .DAT file, and stored in the CDDA folder. I dont know how or why, it just did. There were no additional items in the VCD folder, the SEGMENT folder, or the MPEGAV folder (or any of the other folders). This is fascinating.

Of course I'm going to try more complex versions of what I just did, but I wanted to share my success story before I went back to VideoPack 4!
