  1. hey im planning to get a DVD player that has good picture quality for DVDs, that place VCDs and SVCDs and Pioneer DV-343 DVD looks like its the best for its price. Here is the link where im geteting it from http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00005B9AC/qid=1016753468/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_87_1/...880256-7590307

Is it a good play, i mean stable and does it play DVDs, VCDs, and SVCds fine?

  3. I like mine, it plays everything I've made on any media, even the cheapest CD-R's... just don't get the bitrate above 2600 because it has problems with high bitrate XSVCDs and it won't play selectable sub-titles, which I don't use anyway.. picture quality is great and I'm going to buy another for the bedroom.

  4. hell yes itz good..ive had mine for a long time and yes it plays everything...vcd,svcd,xsvcd,xvcd plays every cd-r and cdrw i burned even the cheapos

doesnt play mp3's but whos care that what u got a pc for

one problem....i found that it couldnt play the retail original dvd "JEEPERS CREEPERS" ..i called pioneer and they said other people had same complaint....they said that the somekind of protection was put on the dvd that made it unplayable to some dvd players (343 +others) but they said if it was still under warranty just send it in to pioneer and they will install something that will fix that problem.

but definately a good dvd player for the price...do not pay over $140 for this player cuzz u can find it somewhere new for cheap

I have to chime in and say the DV-343 is an awesome player quality-wise, the only problem I have with it is the inability to do time search on the remote.

But since I came into this so late, it's a little redundant.

I have to wonder if there are different 343 models out there. I brought a load of XVCDs that I made with these programs (ULEAD & NERO). They were captured with these settings VIDEO DATA RATE 1150 Kbps, the Audio Bit Rate at 224 Kbps, and the capture frame rate at 29.97 fps. These XVCDs will play on Panasonic, JVC, Sanyo, Apex, Curtis Mathes, and DAEWOO DVD players, yet the Pioneer was struggling trying to play these XVCDs. I have also tried the 434 Prog. scan model with the same story. I don't know why this is b/c I would rather have a Pioneer than the players I have listed based on their reliability.
