  1. Hi Everyone,

I recently downloaded a music video in MPEG, but when I burnt it to play it on my DVD player it said that it was JPEG data. I know a little about the other formats, but I never heard of this, so is there anyone that can tell me how to convert this into VCD?

    Thanks

    Mark

PS It plays perfect on my computer

  2. First, you need to find the capabilities of your DVD player. Click the "DVD Players" link on the brown menu column on the left side of the vcdhelp.com page. Then look up your make and model of DVD player. Read all the comments posted about the player. Can the DVD player play Super Video CDs? (SVCD) Video CDs? (VCD)

My guess is that your DVD player cannot play the format you used for burning. How did you burn the CD? What burning software did you use?

You will probably need to do something like this:

    1) Download the free TmpegEnc encoder and install it on your PC if you haven't done this already.
    2) Select a format for your CD. If your DVD player plays SVCDs, choose that.
    3) Encode your MPEG file in SVCD format, using the template provided by TmpegEnc.
    4) Burn the CD with software such as Nero, choosing the "Super Video CD" format.

If this works, you can experiment with different bitrates etc. once you gain experience.

  3. Hi there,

Thanks for you fast response to my request for help the other day.

My DVD player is ‘United DVD 3155 (2155)’ and there is no listing for it here, but the booklet says it can play ‘DVD/Super VCD/MP3/VCD/CD-R/CD-I’ and we got it cheap and the other problem I have is that the booklet is in Swedish and I can only understand parts of the booklet. I have tried to find a link to the makers of United but I couldn’t, so I could see if I could get a booklet in English from them.

The following is the steps I use for burning Mpeg:

1 I normally download Mpeg music video.
2 Burn it onto TDK CD-RW with WinCD 3.7 using CD-Rom ISO 9660/Joliet
3 Then if it plays good on the DVD player I burn it again using the same as above with a normal CD-R
