  1. I"ve spent at least 5 hours fooling around with one damn .avi file trying to convert it to a vcd with problems ranging from a corrupt .BIN file, to programs rejecting my burn command. I finally got it running using CDRWIN with a CUE file and burned it. On my toshiba dvd player, the file starts playing for about 30 seconds, then sounds like the disc stops and the image freezes, then it sounds like it's constantly trying to run the disc on and off with a frozen screen and no success. Any ideas on what's going on? Do I have a corrupt file, or was there just a burning error. This should work since all steps and programs used were successful in burning other movies which play fine on the same player. PLEASE HELP ME END MY FRUSTRATING DAY!!!

You'll better re-encode the AVI (even if it was DivX) to MPeG, using TMPGenc or Ligos or whatever you prefer to use to encode. Be sure you encode to "(Super)VideoCD compliant" (see further).
Then (don't forget to verify this MPeg) use an Authoring-soft (like VCDwizard or VCDeasy or whatever) to author this MPG to (S)VCD. Be certain to create a VCD1.1/VCD2.0 if you encoded to MPG-1 or SVCD if you encoded to MPG-2.

The cue/bin's these application generates should NOT been written with Nero (because Nero sucks!), but better use CDRdao or (if you have lots of patient) with WINcdr.

Then you're DVD-Video player needs to have 2-heads in order to be able to play CDR's. You can verify the vcd's in your system (using winDVD, PowerDVD; or whatever you prefer to use as DVD-player for yor pc).
