After I import a jpg or bmp and a wmv and add them to Timeline WMM gives me Error message and crashes. Using XP SP3. (I am using the default number of WMM transitions and effects.) Could this be Registry problem? I do have Audacity and Allok Video Splitter/Joiner installed. I did not have this problem with WMM on my last hard drive with XP (not sure if it was SP2 or SP3).

  2. Try reducing the resolution of your photo and try to add it again. It's probably choking on a large photo so make it smaller.

Even if I only import audio (and no photos) WMM crashes when I add audio to timeline. I think there was some issue with SP3 and WMM.

  4. What kind of audio? What version of WMM? And try my suggestion about reducing the size of your photo. NO audio, just the photo, for a quick test. If that doesn't work you have some other issue.

You can import files with the following file name extensions into Windows Movie Maker to use in your project:

Audio files: .aif, .aifc, .aiff .asf, .au, .mp2, .mp3, .mpa, .snd, .wav, and .wma
Picture files: .bmp, .dib, .emf, .gif, .jfif, .jpe, .jpeg, .jpg, .png, .tif, .tiff, and .wmf
Video files: .asf, .avi, .m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .mpv2, .wm, and .wmv
