    Hi all,

VERY FIRST post here, ok straight to the point.

I record gameplay etc for my youtube channel and I am using fantastic software called Litecam HD.

I record with ffdshow uncompressed avi encoding, works brilliantly.

the new version of litecam was confirmed the other day as the ffdshow 4515 encoder as the issue of the msvcr90.dll issue.

The litecam does not cause the crash its the ffdshow codec causing it, this was confirmed remotely by Litecam Engineers in Korea.

So my question is guys, I am wanting to use my beloved Litecam HD V4.8

With a completely uncompressed avi encoder, that is litecam allows you to select encoders, the MPEG 4 encoders are terrible and I love the quality of an uncompressed avi, size does not matter at all.

I usually record 7 vids per week and they are around 85gb each, no issues at all.

Can anyone suggest an uncompressed avi encoder that litecam will see in the codec dropdown that I can use that is the same as the ffdshow uncompressed avi

many many thanks in advance all

  2. Why don't you use a lossless encoder like UT Video Codec or even the older HuffYUV. That will give you fast 2:1 to 3:1 compression with no loss of quality.

Many thanks for replying. So basically its a compressed codec but will produce 1:1 quality?

Also wont it require more cpu to crunch the avi file as its being created?

If you think this will be as good as uncompressed i will go with your choice

    Many thanks indeed

    Cheers

Yes, as long as you don't perform any color space changes. For example, capture as YUY2, compress as YUY2, decompress as YUY2.

Yes, but the increase is CPU usage is usually more than offset by the decrease in disk I/O. Overall, it's less stress on the system.

Ok I have tried the following:

    UtVideo YUV420 BT.601

    UtVideo YUV420 BT.70

    The video's appear Green?

  8. You want to use the YUV422 versions with YUY2. I don't know what your camera produces but the general rule is BT.601 for standard definition, BT.709 for high definition.

Frame Divide count should be the same the number of cores your CPU has. I would try the "Optimize for decoding speed" setting first. If you have no problems and want a little more compression try the "Optimize for compression ratio" option instead. Your webcam probably produces progressive video, not interlaced.
