I use my cameras on their highest settings and get m2ts or mov files at 1920x1080....then i author in Power Director to make the final video/slide show and get an mpg file of 1280x720 ...I am happy with this quality.....
But...when i try to make it into a DVD file all the software...MS DVD maker....Power Producer....DVD Flick etc. seem to reduce it to 720x512 or something.
I don't want it reduced from 1280x720..... what programs will allow me to do that?
Also any programs which will just do the originals into DVD?

You'll need either a blu ray player, or a media player (like a WD TV Live) to playback high def files. An HTPC is also an option.
DVD-video is always lower resolution than what you are getting from your cameras. -
NO.. DVD format, to play on ANY dvd player requires a max of 720
you can create blu-ray discs in Hi-Def
or you can create PC video data
but IF you want to make DVD's...it has to conform to dvd standards -
Thanks guys....just shows my total lack of understanding about the videos.
I was thinking...well my HD video is only 4 gb so it should fit on a DVD.... sure it does if its just files to play on a computer...no need to edit. I always wondered what the fuss was about this Bluray thingy ...lol.
I upload my m2ts videos to Youtube and then download as mp4 and they look great on my smartphone or tablet screens...
