  1. I have recently installed DivX 5, and ONLY the audio codecs of Nimo 4.4, and now when I do a DivX-> VCD (MPEG1) conversion, the MPEG1 is full-screened and it will not keep the same aspect ratio as before (i.e. letterbox)

I have uninstalled the Nimo codecs and tried downgrading to DivX 3.11, and it is still full-screening everything on the output MPEG1. I have made 5-6 VCDs from DivXs on this same machine with the same software recently and it kept the aspect ratio and did not full-screen everything (in other words, if the DivX played back in letterbox style, then the MPEG1-VCD would also playback in letterbox style)

This started happening after adding DivX 5 and the Nimo audio codecs. I've uninstalled both the audio codecs and DivX 5 and went back to just DivX 3.11, and it is still doing it! I am using the latest versions of Virtual Dub and TMPGe. Really going nuts here!

Hit the "Settings" button in TMPGEnc then the advanced tab...

Look at video arrange method, and also anything checked in the list...

If your using DivX 5, have you gone into its settings and changed something? On the General perimeters have you checked any of those boxes?

  6. nothing is checked on my DivX 5.0 settings - just the defaults from when I first installed...like i said before, i uninstalled 5 and went back to 3.11 to see if it would work, and it is the same - everything full-screened.

  8. i have figured out the problem and the solution was setting the video arrange method (under advanced) to "fullscreen (keep aspect ratio)" with 1:1 VGA for the aspect ratio. i searched around the forum last night and found this info. i could have sworn that i tried this at one point and it didn't work, but i tried it again and all of the avi-mpeg conversions i've tried are coming out the right way now. 8) thanx
