I'm curious why the video files converted to .avi using Video to Video Converter are so large? For example, I converted a 734 MB .mpg file and the .avi was >4 GB. Did the same conversion using TEncoder Video Converter and the .avi was 588 MB. I used the same settings in both programs (divx, original quality, size, etc.). It seems that the .avi files aren't being compressed in Video to Video and I don't see any settings to change that. Does anyone know why this happens? Any suggestions? Other than the output file size, I like Video to Video for my modest needs.

Change the video bitrate for smaller size in video to video converter. Use a bitrate calculator to calculate the exact size.

OK, that answered my question. My 12 MB "test.avi" file turned into 38 MB with Quality set to "same as source". I set it to "normal" and it went down to 16 MB and I couldn't see any difference in the on screen quality.
My logic was flawed: I saw "same as source" and thought "if the source is compressed, the output will be as well" and for some dumb reason I didn't think of trying the other settings. Thanks for solving the mystery for me.
