    but it s not avatar

But I do not understand the ref to ASCII characters. There are no unusual characters in the path. Which of the characters in the link above is not ASCII

The page you linked to isn't exactly correct. It's more a matter of certain characters being used that programs or the OS don't necessarily like. That said, however, offhand, I don't see any characters in that example that might be giving AVC issues (though I can't be entirely sure, as I don't use AVC). It might be the spaces in the path and/or filename, instead.

We'd have to see your exact path and filename to be sure - but as a simple test, you can create a simple (with no spaces) directory at the root of one of your hard drives (like C:\TEMP or C:\temp, for example), copy the video there (also with a simple name that has no spaces, like video.avi, video.mkv, etc.)... then load that into AVC, and see if it gives you the same error.
If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?

  3. The error message indicates you are opening a CUE file, not at TS file.

Yeah, in that case, the webpage is definitely incorrect about the cause of the problem.

I googled CUE and understand it is an image file

when i click on the video_Ts it opens to five vob files. It is these that are then rejected. How do i open the TS file direct?

  6. CUE files are part of a BIN/CUE pair. The BIN file contains the actual CD/DVD image. The CUE file is very small and contains information about that image (the name of the BIN file, the mode it was copied, fist and last track, etc.).

I don't know what AVS's abilities are so I can only give you generic advice. Are you opening a BIN/CUE pair? Or a VIDEO_TS folder? Does your VIDEO_TS folder contain the IFO and BUP files as well as the VOB files? Does the program have an Open File option as well as an Open Folder option?

There are a few "normal" characters that are allowable in filenames but don't work in some programs -- but I forget exactly which ones. To be sure, use names that use only alpha-numeric characters (a-z, A-Z, 0-9). Obviously, leave the underscore characters in the VIDEO_TS folder and files. There can also be problems with extremely long path names or too deeply nested folders.

By the way, your thread title is misleading. TS is an actual filename extension for the Transport Stream container. You are opening DVD VIDEO_TS folders with IFO/BUP/VOB files (or maybe BIN/CUE images).

    Thanks.
I am opening a video_TS folder. There are IFO and BUP files but they do not show when i click open the Video_TS, only the VOBS show

  8. I converted it with http://www.aimersoft.com/video-converter-ultimate.html and added srt of the subs. The only problem is my subs are about two seconds out of sync/ behind the audio..In an ABC count the film is at C and subs at A.

Would i have to go all through the srt file to correct that?

  9. You can use a subtitle editor like Subtitle Workshop to shift all the subs a few seconds (or whatever you need) in one step.
