Used firewire to transfer video from a Sony VX2000 camera resulting in an avi file. Using TMPEnc 2.5 to convert to MPG2. ULead Workshop Demo to write to Pioneer A04. Have used Pioneer DVD-r, DVD-rw, Verbatim DVD-r resulting in coasters. Have tried final DVD in many players with no luck. Was able to create 1 DVD+RW (HP DVD100i) and it played on a new DVD/TV Combo (Toshiba). Could not duplicate the process so switched to Pioneer burner. Thinking it may be the conversion from avi to mpg2 but not sure. Any suggestion or thoughts?

Here's a thought:
Give us exact DETAILS!
What software to author the DVD?

Tested on PC b4 and after burning. Used PowerDVD to open DVD Files on PC (.ifo/.vob) and final DVD, both work fine.

So you say the burned discs play on your PC?
Then they might not be coasters. Many DVD players have problems playing DVD-R. ry taking it to an electronics store and seeing if it will play on any player there.
Also, DVD video should be encoded at the variable setting, not constant. VBR of 8000 results in an average bit rate of 4000 or so. Your bitrate may be choking the players.
Audio I believe should be 224, not 384.
Try encoding to mpeg 2 using a different encoder. Sounds like the Ulead software is accepting non-DVD compliant files without warning you and without re-encoding them to conform.
