  1. Hi everyone,
We are having problem with this video :
    https://vimeo.com/72415501

We are not getting the right quality that we find after exporting from Final Cut Pro or while editing in Final Cut Pro. The waves of sea were clearer and after we uploaded the waves looks creepy.

    Does anyone have the solution?

  2. Looks like your exported framerate doesn't match your source, and you're using too low a bitrate for complex images. You haven't provided a lot of detail about your process -- in fact you haven't really provided any -- but that's what it looks like.

  3. Ok let me provide the info, The info goes as such:
Frame rate: 24 fps on DSLR : Canon 650 D
Lens used: 18-55 mm Kit Lens

Then I imported the clips to the Final Cut Pro 7 and there was warning for one sequence which was: The frame rate doesn't match.
But while I was working on FCP 7 and even when I exported it as a video using QuickTime Conversion, it wasn't much creepy, but as soon as I uploaded it on Vimeo, it got creepy.

The settings used for exporting in FCP 7 was:
    Video Settings:
    Compression Type: H264
    Frame Rate: Current
    Key Frames: Automatic
    Frame Reordering: yes
    Compressor quality: High
    Data Rate: Automatic
    Optimized for: Download
    Video Size:
    Dimension 1280x720 HD
Check “Preserve aspect ratio using” “Crop”
    Sound Settings:
    Format: AAC
    Channels: Stereo (L R)
    Rate: 44.100
Help me getting the right way! Thanks

  4. The video you uploaded is 25fps and 640x360. You'll have to determine if your camera shoots actual 24fps or 23.976 -- either is fine, but you have to get it right-- and use that frame rate throughout your process from beginning to end. Either FCP or compressor is "helping" you by blending and duplicating frames and that's why you're getting that funky look.

If you change the project rate in FCP, be sure the footage is conforming correctly or it will be giving you a 24->25->24 conversion which will be even worse.

I'm also assuming you're using 1280x720 from beginning to end, but then you uploaded something different to VImeo.

    Good luck.

This should have been posted in the Mac forum (?). You can download short mp4 samples directly to this forum. We have no idea how the download site handled your file, but their front-end player has the wrong aspect ratio.

I agree: a low bitrate of 600 is absurd for this material. And depending on the video's intended use, the frame size, audio, and other specs are non-standard for BluRay or AVCHD. But that depends on your final plans for the product.

Try this page or HD standard specs: https://www.videohelp.com/hd#tech

  6. So, @smrpix can you tell me step by step procedure for this?
and how did you know it's 25 fps and 640x360? I guess when I exported it was 1080p?
and final thing to ask: When I exported it from FCP, there were no funky look or whatever you like to call it, but the problem seemed to happen after uploading it to Vimeo.
@sanlyn Sorry for getting into the wrong place

  7. It's been about three years since I used FCP so I'm a bit rusty, but here's a discussion among folks that have a same/similar issue and the information is correct.

As for outputting, whether it's from FCP or compressor or anything else, generally keep the same framerate as your original unless you've got a really good reason for changing it. Adjust the bitrate according to your needs.

    Here are Vimeo's recommendations: http://vimeo.com/help/compression

720p (1280x720) is a good compromise between size and quality for vimeo, even if you originally shot 1080. You seem to have gotten it right on your "Qatar, Life in Motion" video (Nice.)

I determined the specs of your current clip by downloading it and checking it with Mediainfo.
