Am I correct in understanding that Imgburn is best used for 1:1 copying and BDRebuilder is best used to shrink content and delete extras? This assumes that AnyDVD HD is in the loop.

ImgBurn is burning software. It has the ability to rip UNPROTECTED discs, but it cannot rip commercially protected discs. It's best to not think of it as anything but a burning program. With the exception of audio files, which it can convert to CD audio, it doesn't convert anything. It just burns whatever you author elsewhere.
Your definition for BDRB is correct. It does not contain burning software.
