At first I blamed Nero (Nero was named in DVDDecrypter) but then I realized that it was just copied with Nero....this
DVD structure came from a DVD recorder.
I'm surprised it actually plays.....well technically it doesn't play because one of my drives refused to read it.
I also HAD to use DVDDecrypter on it because Windows refused to complete a simple Copy & Paste on the VIDEO_TS folder.

Also, VIDEO_TS_MENU_1.VOB is not an "8.3" filename

  4. I really like that VIDEO_TS_MENU_1 file name. You can really tell by that alone, that the company who made the DVD is quite professional :P

@hech54, please see if you can use ISOBuster and find the info on the disc where it shows the application/burner/recorder. It might help deter others from making a bad purchase.

    Thanks (and good luck),

I don't see that info in IsoBuster. Where is it?

Do a Sector View of the filesystem (ISO9660, Joliet, UDF, etc). This can be done by right-clicking the FS icon(s).

Placement will vary depending on filesystem, but for ISO9660, it should be at LBA: 16, ~relative sector: 240 (assuming the disc is finalized).

You can also use a Linux CLI app called isoinfo which will give you a text readout of all that info, including application_id. There are other (older CD-based) apps that can do that as well, but they're hard to find (I have archives of them, in cold storage at present...)

The Implementation ID in ImgBurn is Nero

    ISOBuster also says Nero:
    0180 : 14 00 00 00 00 2A 4E 65 72 6F 00 00 00 00 00 00 .....*Nero......

Did Nero just copy this disc or create this disc?

Could be either. I think that nero will do this when copying in addition to when creating a disc.

  11. Yeah, it's on the Label tab in Nero, click the more labels button and you can just delete the entry.

If you haven't found the solution, here it is:
This DVD structure was probably made when the source DVD was ripped with DVDDecrypter, set at wrong settings (I had seen it before).
This DVD structure can play on some PC DVD players, but not on standalone DVD players if burnt to DVD-R disc.

    The solution is very simple:
    1. copy the files from the DVD disc to a folder on your HDD.
    1. rename VIDEO_TS_MENU_1.VOB to VIDEO_TS.VOB
    2. now open the DVD folder on your HDD in DVDShrink 3.2, let it analyze it, and then click on "Backup!" and save in another folder. Thus you get the original DVD structure (as was on the source DVD) which can be burnt to DVD and play as any normal DVD.

You could load the single vob file in Ifoedit and let it create a new dvd structure.

I was never looking for a solution.
DVDDecrypter had ZERO to do with the creation of this disc.
The DVD DOES play in my ancient Centrum DVD player.

Please take your little bit of (mostly inaccurate)knowledge on one tiny subject and go away. VideoHelp does not need grave-robbers digging up old threads only to post wildly inaccurate guesses.

This is not "a guess", but the working procedure (tested and working) which easily solves the trouble with problematic DVD structure.
Thank you for your kind reply. Nice attitude, BTW.
