  1. Hi I wonder if you could help with this issue.....

Basically i have a 4.7gig standard video dvd disc on dvdr (not copy protected) i want to convert to mpg files .

I setup freemake to extract from the dvd rom drive , to Mpg (harddrive) , i leave the file size to "same as original " (i have also tried a custom size of 4.5 gb)

Freemake extracts the files , 4 in total (as there is 4 videos on the disc) but the resulting mpg files total 8 gig (which is bigger than the original DVD of 4.7gb) and the audio sync is out on the Mpeg files .

Please can you offer advice on how to fix this problem / offer a solution.

Ideally i need 4 mpg files so i can edit them and make back into a DVD

I have Tried using a few other programs from videohelp.org (avi.net and DVDx) , but i get the same results , large mpg and out of sync audio.

    Anyone help me please ?

Stop worrying about Freemake and codecs. This is "Video 101" stuff....you are just using the wrong software....like using a sledgehammer to kill a mosquito.....and a crappy(Freemake) sledgehammer at that.

  5. Hi Hech54 , the disc i have is on a DVD-R , it has a menu , it was supplied to me on DVD-R , the footage is not home made , but as to how the disc was originally constructed , i am not sure .

    Hech54 , do you recommend vob2mpeg also ?

Can anyone recommend a good free editing suite , so i can add menus , edit files , perhaps even fade sound in and out at the end of the video files , that would be really great

    TY
