It seems like there's a hundred threads available on almost this topic but they veer off and end up being not what I'm looking for. Simply put, I want to take a bunch of DVDs which contain several TV episodes, and convert them into a bunch of mpeg2 video files (one per TV episode), naturally without any sort of re-compression.

I've given DVDShrink a shot. DVDShrink seems designed to assume that one wishes to make a DVD. That's not what I'm after. It's a shame, because DVDShrink does let me see - and preview - the individual titles in a DVD, even when those titles exceed the standard 1GB VOB size. If only it had a right-click/extract-this-title (or better yet, a queue option for this), everything would be grand.

What I am hoping to avoid is needing to use two or more programs to get this done. Ie, something silly like using one program to re-author DVDs comprising of one TV episode each, and then using another program to convert the results into usable video files. This is a lot of data shuffling and I definitely want to skip needlessly doubling the workload. Besides, Mac users have something called MacTheRipper which sounds as though it's the one-click solution I frankly figured would be so ubiquitous under Windows that I wouldn't possibly be inspired to ask the forums where I should be looking. ;p

Maybe vob2mpg together with anydvd(for ripping/decrypting). You might need vob2mpg to be able to extract as separate titles.

And I meant you might need vob2mpg PRO to be able to extract as separate mpg files.

As it turns out, no. Pro is needed for extracting as separate chapters (as well as removing nags and disabling autoplay and other quibbles), but basic title extraction is available in the non-pro.
