  1. Hi- I'm trying to help someone with their search for a new PC. Could any of you guy compare or comment on these two systems? I'm not really up on current CPUs enough (speed, dual vs. quad core, etc.) to make a good recommendation. The first one is a bit more expensive, so I can guess it's a little better--- but would it really be a very noticeable difference? Note- this would be a pretty general use system and not a gaming or heavy video editing machine. Thanks!

    Option #1:

    • Intel Core i5-3330 (quad core)
    • Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)
    • 6GB DDR3-1600 SDRAM
    • 1TB 7,200RPM Hard Drive
    • 16x DVDRW Drive
    • 8-in-1 Media Card Reader
    • Intel HD
    • Wireless 1506 802.11b/g/n Wireless

    Option #2:

    • Intel Core i3-3220 (dual core)
    • Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)
    • 6GB DDR3-1600 SDRAM
    • 1TB 7,200RPM Hard Drive
    • 16x DVDRW Drive
    • 8-in-1 Media Card Reader
    • Intel HD
    • Wireless 1506 802.11b/g/n

they're the exact same pc, the only difference is the first has a quad core and the second is a dual core. the first is better by virtue of the faster processor, as to whether or not the difference would be noticeable in a general use setting, i doubt it.

If the user is a habitual multi-tasker and often runs several programs at once, an i5 might provide a better experience than an i3.
