Title says it all.
I've tried using both the WinFF .3gp converter and the converter included in aTubeCatcher, and while both deliver the file to the phone, all I get is audio. Video comes out as a green screen. I'm converting a video that's about 84 minutes long. Could that be the problem? Length? (I've tried .mp4, .mpg, and .avi versions of the file to start out with, all full length. All play fine on my computer, all fail to play on the phone with video once converted. Oh, the .3gp files? If I play them on my computer, THEN they play with video! Just not on the phone!)
I have no idea what (if anything) I'm doing wrong. You'd think the file would just play. The converters aren't known to fail. Both programs have always worked well for me...until now.

If it's the same phone and the same converting software....it must be the original file/video that is at fault.

	ADDITIONAL:

The file displayed on my computer even tho' it never got to 100%, so I tried to use it to install MMC.

The program seemed to work, and it did convert the video and feed it into my phone.

The video wouldn't run. The phone said the video was the "wrong size".

I checked out the Media Info on the converted video, and found that the pixel counts were different from every video that does work on the phone. The only ones that run are 320x240. MMC produced a video that was something like 358x280 or something.

Also, very strange, the one video recorded on the phone's camera shows as a .3gp, but the videos fed to the phone by ATubeCatcher (downloaded right from YouTube using one of the alternate type options, in this case 3gp) show up as .mp4. And yet the Media Info on them still says they're .3gp format.

Aside from the one taken by the camera, these .3gp/.mp4 hybrids are the only vids that play, and ALL the vids that play are 320x240.

Yeah, I tried using WinFF to convert the 84 min. .3pg file to 320x240. It worked. It also wouldn't play on the phone. (It was doing the green screen thing again, with perfect audio.)

 *sigh*

	Here's what you should do:
Record a short video clip with your phone. Does it play? Yes! So now you have a legit clip in the proper format and sizing that you know will play in your phone.
So, take that to your pc and use MediaInfo to find out all the settings/parameters of the file (which you could upload here - either the file itself or the MI readout or both), and use those settings when creating/converting other videos.

BTW "3gp" is a particular consumer-equipment-based sub-format of MP4. The container is (usually) MP4 regardless of what it's called. The video inside can be a couple of types, but is usually a form of h.264/AVC/MPEG4v10. However, there are various Profiles & Levels to the spec, and 3gp only counts as legit certain lower-complexity subsets of those (because of the CE nature of the spec).

 (I've removed the file names.)

Notice one of the downloaded videos is widescreen (16x9), the other 4x3, as was the camera video.

The suggestion that I try to match those readings, tho', doesn't help. I'm depending on the software to do the conversion, and the software I'm using has no extensive controls (and I'd likely not know how to use them if they did). Even the one (MMC) recommended above had absolutely no controls at all. You just hit a button and it converts the file. Trouble is, it used a width figure other than 320, and the phone didn't like it.

Would anyone here use this software to do the conversion?

 It's supposedly for LG phones.

I couldn't find any specific info on your phone and without that it's only possible to guess. Did the phone come with a manual which includes specifications regarding the type of video it'll play? Looking at the mediainfo stuff you posted I'd guess the problem's most likely resolution. It may only support a maximum video width of 320.
-
does your phone go by a name? 840g isn't coming up.

try xmediarecode. there are lots of lg presets - find one that works for your phone.--

I used to have compatibility problems like you describe. I use Free 3GP Video Converter now.

I have a Windows 8 smartphone and use Full Moon to transfer the finished videos wirelessly.
