the 2 most famous DVD author freeware apps are much too complicated IMO, so is there a super simple drag and drop app ? I've used DVD Flick before and really like it but that does not have the feature to label each section of the clip. Don't know the correct terminology, but would like to label the DVD with main title, then have 3 subtitles labeled as well on the main menu.

so, for example, if the main title is "Summer vacation" - that shoudl be the name of the DVD.
Then would like to have individual labels for "Florida, Alabama, Kentucky".

    can this be done?

  2. The correct terminology is: "Title and Chapters" and in my opinion non of the free apps do it as good as the money apps. I'm not pushing sony vegas movie studio platium 11 and the included DVD architect for dvd authoring (titles and chapters), but that is the one I use and I found it pretty easy to get my head around it after watching the included tuts and some utube tuts.

The reason why the freeware apps, such as avstodvd, are complicated is because they are front-end gui's for even-more-complicated command-line utilities.

There has to be a learning curve with any free software. There, equally, has to be a learning curve with commercial software. In fact I adore Ulead DVD Workshop 2 which does things that much more 'advanced' software can not. If Ulead/Corel had continued that rather than the far inferior DVD Movie Factory thay would, IMHO, have cleaned up.

So if you want to go down the free route then try avstodvd. But do not expect a point-n-shoot program. Learn to use it and you will reap its rewards.

  4. You really can't get any more simpler than DVDAuthorGUI. I agree though that GUIforDVDAuthor is not very streamlined or user-friendly - but, others praise it, and out of all the freewares, it certainly seems to be full-featured. I personally just don't have the time to mess with it.
