  1. I just purchased a Pioneer DVR-103 last week. I first captured a video/audio clip with Videowave 5.0. I successfully burned the DVD. I can play it normal with audio/video on my PC with no problems, but when I put it into my home dvd player (Pioneer DVL-700), it plays the video but no audio. I also have a Raite 715 player which will not even load and play the DVD-R disk.

Last night, I downloaded and installed a trial version of Ulead Video Studio Version 6. I captured and created the DVD from a VCR tape. Again, the same problem, my home dvd player plays only the video.

I have about 3 dozen videotapes and 50 laser discs titles I want to put on DVD for my own viewing.

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? I am very new at this.

  2. I'm new as well but learning fast. You might want to check the audio type you have set when you burn your DVD. You may have it set to something that your PC player can decode fine but that your stand-alone players are not reading correctly. Try different audio settings and you might one that works for you. Just an idea, but I guess it's better than nothing.

yes you may need to change the settings on your dvd player if you are making a dvd with mpeg1 layer2 audio.

  4. I found my answer. Apparently my old Pioneer can't handle the VCD mpeg1 audio. Just went to Best Buy to test my DVD-R and DVD-RW disks in a Toshiba SD-2800. Guess what, this unit played both of my DVD's with audio including stopping at the menu. Anyway, if anyone is interested. I am going to buy one of these units for only $149.95 at Best Buy. I burned the DVD-R using Video Wave 5 and I burned the DVD-RW using Ulead Video Studio 6. Thanks
